Great Fire Of London

Year 2 have been enthusiastic to learn the history around the Great Fire of London this half term. They have found out how the fire started and why it spread so far. To end our topic, the children each created their own Tudor house just like the ones that would have been on Pudding Lane during 1666 when the Great Fire of London started. Mr Brooks helped us to all stay safe whilst setting up a fire for the houses so that we could recreate the events of the Great Fire of London. Thank you to all of the adults who were able to join us for this.

Power of reading cafe

The children had lots of fun completing activities during their Power of Reading cafe and it was lovely to have lots of adults join us too!

Exploring materials in science

We have been learning about materials and their properties during our science lessons. We were set the challenge to build a bridge that would be strong enough to hold a weight. We had to consider the materials we thought would be strong but also how we would change the shape of materials to build our bridge. Look at our fantastic model bridges we created!

Plants as food

The year 2 children were excited to explore different food items and consider which part of a plant it belongs to. The children were able to recognise which food is part of a plant’s roots, stem, leaves or flower as well as which is fruit. They then investigated the fruit further by cutting the fruit open and finding the seeds.
