During Autumn term 2, children in Years 1 and 2 (Key Stage One) have focused on SPELLING and children in the Nursery and Reception (EYFS) have focused on SPEAKING and LISTENING.
Spelling
The focus in Key Stage One is to raise the attainment of writing, in particular spelling.
We focused on:
- Children being able to spell age appropriate tricky words/common exception words correctly
- Children understanding and applying the spelling rules they have been taught, e.g. alternative graphemes, suffixes
Thank you to those who attended the parent/carer spelling workshops for Year 1 and 2 children. We hope you found the activities useful and were able to use them at home too.

- confidently expressing themselves in whole class situations
- singing familiar Nursery Rhymes and songs
- listening and joining in with story telling
